Single-phase commutating reactors for DC operating mechanisms
Single-phase 4EM commutating reactors for converters are used indouble-way circuits from converter assemblies as line reactors intothe line-side infeed. They are connected such that alternatingcurrent flows through them.
It is their task to limit the line-side voltage dips duringcommutation of the converter. Also, by limiting the current riserate di/dt the reactors limit the voltage rise rate du/dt at thethyristors used.
There are various series of reactors in theversion Standard(Catalog LV 60):

Terminal covers for protection against inadvertent contactwith exposed bar connections (DIN VDE 0106 Part100/EN 50274)
The covers are suitable for all reactors and filters with 1-holeflat connectors. Assignment of the covers to the reactors andfilters can take via the connection hole diameter.
If no other information is provided in the technicalspecifications, touch protection for the backs of hands againstunintentional contact with live components can be created accordingto BGV A2 by using the covers.

Commutating reactors for converters are used in B6 and B6C circuitsfrom converter assemblies into the line-side infeed. It is theirtask to limit the line-side voltage dips during commutation of theconverter. Also, by limiting the current rise rate di/dt thereactors limit the voltage rise rate du/dt at the thyristorsused.
Commutating reactors can also be used for decoupling converterassemblies working in parallel.
I thmax= 0.8·ILmax ("80 % reactors") with uD ~4 % for following supply voltages: 3 AC 400 V,3 AC 500 V, 3 AC 690 V,3 AC 750 V
I thmax = ILmax ("100 % reactors") with uD ~2 % for following supply voltages:
3 AC 400 V, 3 AC 690 V,3 AC 830 V
and with uD ~4 % for following supply voltages:
3 AC 400 V, 3 AC 500 V,3 AC 690 V, 3 AC 750 V
